Benefits of membership

VHS members-only events and programs

Garden PartyOne of the most anticipated VHS members-only events is the annual Garden Party at Virginia House. Only members and their guests may enjoy this afternoon of jovial camaraderie, excellent food, and refreshing mint juleps in beautiful gardens during one of the loveliest seasons in Virginia.

VHS members receive invitations to three evening members-only lectures followed by a reception and book signing. The lectures feature such renowned historians and authors as David McCullough, Scott Berg, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Ken Burns, and Frank Deford.

VHS members may join us for our “See You on the Bus” program. These special day-long excursions take VHS members to other historical sites across the state. These bus trips usually feature behind-the-scenes tours not usually open to the public or special tours of privately owned historic homes and collections.
