Our day begins with a visit to the Worrell Collection at Peter Jefferson Place. The collection is not open for public viewing and is only available by invitation and special arrangements. We will see more than 300 original paintings and sculptures, thought by many to be the “finest collection of animal art in America.”
We lunch at historic Keswick Hall, the impressive mansion at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. After lunch we will be treated to a special tour of the expansive facilities. The afternoon stop is at Woodberry Forest School established on land that originally belonged to General William Madison, brother of President James Madison. In 1889 Captain James Walker brought a tutor to the farm to educate his sons. Neighboring children joined the Walker boys, and a school was born.

Washington, D.C.: Monuments and Memorials
September 18, 2013 | Departure: 7:15 a.m.
Washington's monuments and memorials are a tribute to those who have made immeasurable contributions to the country that we live in today. Some by making the ultimate sacrifice. Others by providing the necessary leadership. The monuments and memorials tell more than the story of individuals. They tell the story of our nation and something of our nation's character in its response to the events that have shaped our country. The development of each monument and memorial is reflection of our perspective of our wars and leaders.
A step-on guide will lead our visit to the memorials honoring World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War Veterans; Abraham Lincoln, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Martin Luther King.
Cost: $119
